Passing on the Torch to Open Special Olympics

Representatives from every section of Carroll’s law enforcement community and athletes from the Special Olympics assembled in Westminster on a rainy Wednesday in June to carry the Special Olympics torch for the final leg of its journey to Towson for the start of the Special Olympics Maryland Summer Games.

More than 250 people gathered for the event, according to Westminster Police Chief Jeff Spaulding, a key organizer. The event was the seventh year of the torch run in Westminster.
